It was a hot day in June when Gary
Lanier sat down in
his studio to write a worship song. Uncertain of the end results,
the music began to flow from his keyboard, bringing forth beautiful
chords, that developed into a melody, and finally lyrics. The first
line reflected, not only the weather outside, but the unending
desire for an overflowing fellowship with his Lord...
"You are the spring in my desert."
LYRICS
VERSE ONE
You are the spring in my desert
You are the air that I breathe
You are the Light in my darkness
You are the One I believe
Jesus, You are the Way, the Truth
You are my life and I trust in You
BRIDGE
Spring in my desert; Air that I
breathe
Light in my darkness; In You I
believe
Fountain of blessing; True to Your
word
Spring in my desert
VERSE TWO
You are the joy in my laughter
You are the source of my need
You are my wonderful Savior
You are my friend and my King
Tell me, what can I say or do
To show you Lord, how much I love you

Joy in my laughter; Source of my need
Wonderful Savior; My friend and my King
Lord of all glory; I long to serve
Spring in my desert
